Momi

Editorial policy

Last updated 20 October 2026

This editorial policy explains how the Momi team researches, writes, reviews and updates the articles, week-by-week pages and tools on this website, so you can judge how far to rely on them.

Our principles

  • Helpful, not alarming. We write in plain language and say clearly when to call a midwife or doctor.
  • Evidence first. Health statements must be backed by a trusted source.
  • Honest about Momi. Momi is our app. When we compare apps, we say so, describe Momi's limits too, and never accept payment for placement.
  • No made-up numbers. We don't publish invented statistics, user counts, ratings or testimonials.

How we source information

Health content is checked against current guidance from national and professional bodies, mainly:

  • ACOG (American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists)
  • NHS (UK National Health Service) and NICE
  • CDC (US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
  • WHO (World Health Organization)
  • Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and peer-reviewed research (for example PubMed-indexed studies and Cochrane reviews)

Every article lists its sources at the end with the date we accessed them. Where US and UK guidance differ (such as trimester start weeks), we show both. App comparisons use each app's own store listing and show the date we checked it.

Who writes and reviews

  • Writers: articles are written by the Momi team.
  • Medical review: each health article will be reviewed by a qualified clinician, such as an obstetrician, midwife or family doctor. Until that review is done, the page says "Medically reviewed by: Safi Allah Khan". Once reviewed, it shows the reviewer's name, credentials and the review date.
  • Product facts: statements about Momi's features are checked against the shipped app.

How often we update

  • Every health article is re-checked at least once a year, and sooner when major guidance changes.
  • App comparisons and airline or product facts are re-checked at least every 6 months, because they change often.
  • Each page shows the date it was last updated.

Corrections

If you spot an error, email us via the contact page with the page link. We review reports promptly. If we correct a factual error, we update the page and its "updated" date, and add a short correction note for significant changes.

Use of AI

We use AI tools to help with research, outlines, drafting and editing. Every page is checked by a person against the cited sources before it's published, and health articles go through medical review as described above. We don't publish AI-generated medical advice without human checking, and we don't use AI to create fake reviews, quotes or images of real people.

Advertising and independence

The free Momi app shows ads; this website doesn't sell editorial coverage. Links to Momi in articles are clearly ours. We don't take payment from other apps for placement in comparisons.

Not medical advice

Read our medical disclaimer. See also about Momi, the FAQ and pregnancy week by week.

Medical disclaimer: Momi and this website provide general information, not medical advice. Always talk to your doctor or midwife; in an emergency call your local emergency number.
