Pregnancy Tracking App for Both Parents: What to Look For

Quick answer: A good pregnancy tracking app for both parents lets each of you follow the same due date and weekly updates, add notes or memories, and use labor tools together. Ovia and Flo offer partner sharing to a second phone; Pregnancy+ can be personalised for a partner; Momi gives each parent their own diary on one phone.
Disclosure: Momi is our app. We describe it with its limits, including that it doesn't sync between two phones yet.
Pregnancy happens to one body but two parents. ACOG encourages partners to learn about pregnancy, go to appointments and support labor and the weeks after birth. The right app makes that easier. For dad-specific apps, see pregnancy app for dads; for the full market, best pregnancy apps.
Shared features to look for
| Feature | Why it matters for couples |
|---|---|
| One due date, one current week | You're both on the same page about how far along you are |
| Partner sharing or invites | The second parent follows from their own phone |
| A diary for each parent | Two voices, two sets of memories |
| Shared photos | Bump pictures and scans in one place |
| Appointment list with reminders | Both know when the next scan is |
| Kick counter and contraction timer | Easy for a partner to run during late pregnancy and labor |
| Clear privacy controls | Sharing with a partner shouldn't mean sharing with advertisers |
Decide first whether you want two synced phones or one shared app. That narrows the choice quickly.

Option 1: partner sharing to a second phone
Apps like Ovia and Flo let the pregnant parent invite a partner, so the partner sees updates on their own device.
Good for: couples who are often apart, or partners who want reminders on their own phone.
Watch out for: what's shared. Check which data the partner sees and whether you can turn sharing off later.
Option 2: one app, a space for each parent
Momi takes a different approach: one app on one phone, with a Mom's diary and a Dad's diary. Each parent writes their own entries, and you can both add to the weekly bump photo journal and save ultrasound pictures.
Good for: couples who want separate voices in one keepsake, and who are happy to pass the phone.
Watch out for: there's no cross-device sync yet, so the partner can't read or write from their own phone. Premium can export your timeline as a PDF ebook.
Option 3: two apps
Some couples use a dad-specific app for the partner and a full tracker for the pregnant parent. You'll each get content written for you, but your notes and photos end up in different places.
Using the app together through pregnancy
- Early on: set the due date together, add your first appointments and start the diaries.
- Middle months: take weekly bump photos, write about the first kicks, plan classes.
- Late pregnancy: show your partner how to use the kick counter and practise with the contraction timer.
- Labor: one of you times contractions while the other focuses on breathing. See when to go to the hospital for contractions.
Privacy for couples
Sharing with your partner is one thing; sharing with third parties is another. Before you both sign up:
- Open the app's App Privacy section on the App Store, or Data safety on Google Play.
- Look for "Data Used to Track You": the App Store explains that this data "may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies".
- Check how partner sharing works and how to stop it.
Momi's own App Store label includes "Data Used to Track You" for third-party advertising in the free version. Read more in pregnancy apps that don't share data.

FAQ
Is there a free pregnancy tracking app for both parents?
Yes. Ovia is free and offers Friends & Family Sharing. Flo is free to download with Flo for Partners, though in-depth content needs Flo Premium. Pregnancy+ is free with in-app purchases and can be personalised for a partner. Momi is free with ads and has a separate Dad's diary on the same phone.
Can two people use the same pregnancy app account?
It depends on the app. Some, such as Ovia and Flo, let the pregnant parent invite a partner. Others are designed for one user and one phone. Sharing a login isn't usually recommended; use the app's own sharing option if it has one.
What's the best pregnancy app for couples?
Pick based on how you want to share. If you both want your own phones to stay in sync, choose an app with partner sharing, like Ovia or Flo. If you want each parent to write their own diary and don't mind using one phone, Momi's Mom's and Dad's diaries suit that.
Does Momi sync between two phones?
Not yet. Momi's Mom's diary and Dad's diary are on the same phone, and there's no cross-device sharing at the moment. With Premium, you can export your timeline as a PDF ebook to share with family.
Is it safe to share pregnancy data with a partner app?
Sharing with your partner is your choice, but check what the app does with data. Read the App Store privacy label or Google Play Data safety section, see whether data is used to track you, and share only what you're comfortable with.
